Eating is an intricate skill that requires the coordination of many abilities. Some children experience feeding challenges due to a variety of factors.
At Pivot and Peaks OT, feeding assessments identify each child’s unique needs and guide individualized intervention. We use principles of systematic desensitization and a structured hierarchy of steps to help children develop positive experiences with food while building foundational sensorimotor skills.
Each feeding therapy session uses sensory-based exploration of food textures, tastes, and temperatures to build confidence and reduce stress around eating. Through collaboration with parents and caregivers, children carry over learned skills into family and social mealtimes.
